lovely big rooms although the bathroom could do with updateing,, we ate in the pub on both nights and the food was good and it was handy not having to look for some where to eat or drink. The rooms are seperate from the inn, which means you are not disturbed by any noise. We really enjoyed it and would recommend it 100% Read less

Stayed for a week, self catering. Met friends and family in adjoining pub - Excellent meals, good beer and no worry about driving. Good location for area and sightseeing base. Location, pub accross the yard with good food and drink, close to road network and historical sites. friendly staff, good value for self catering. Pub has food theme nights, really enjoyed steak night
Dislikes:
Layout of bathroom/bath under sloping roof means showers can be a challenge. Rail line close (which is noted in booking info).Only problem is with occasional long goods train. Stay too short!!!!!! :)

"Very comfortable accommodation with good food"
My husband and I, along with our dog enjoyed a 3 night stay at this Inn. The rooms are all self contained and away from the main building which meant that our dog wasn't disturbed by anyone else and we could leave the car right outside our door. The food and Real Ale were enjoyed by the humans.
We found the location excellent for visiting South Northumberland and Tyne and Wear. Read less

The room was fantastic. Spacious, light, airy, all the facilities you could want. Set apart from the main body of the hotel but only a step across the courtyard for dinner and/or drinks.
Dislikes:
Whilst still good we did not find the food quite up to the standard of last year. No doubt a change of chef since then!!!
Response from The Boatside Inn:
Thankyou for your comments. I must appologise that you had a wait for your breakfast. It was a new chef at that time and I have brought your comments to his attention. We look forward to your return. regards Carol Forster

Despite the mixed weather we had a wonderful week at The Boatside Inn. The South Tyneside self catering accommodation was superbly equipped with everything we needed. We enjoyed several evening meals during the week, just a shame we could only manage one course on the wonderful home cooked food! All the staff were very friendly and attentive throughout our stay. Overall rating: 4.8 out of 5
This is our second stay which says it all really as we seldom stay at the same place more than once as we wish to visit different parts of the country. The quality of rooms, service, breakfast, evening meals, draught beer was excellent - thoroughly recommended.
